With nearly 20 years in the insurance industry and a background in insurance and law, Abbey brings depth, precision and practical insight to every client relationship. A Senior Insurance Broker at YIB since 2014, she specialises in complex commercial insurance across motor trades, construction, transport, mining, industrial operations, manufacturing and wholesale businesses – particularly those operating in high-hazard, high-liability or non-preferred risk environments.
Deeply passionate about risk management, she invests the time to understand her clients’ businesses inside and out – from operations and structures through to long-term strategy and growth. This detailed, hands-on approach allows her to design and negotiate insurance solutions that genuinely fit each business, rather than relying on off-the-shelf outcomes.
Detail-driven by nature (and proudly the person who reads every page of the contract), Abbey is a fierce advocate for her clients. She takes a practical, outcome-focused approach to cover negotiation and claims management, working relentlessly to achieve the best possible results. Calm under pressure and known for her straight-talking advice, clients value Abbey as a trusted partner in their business – not just their insurance broker.
Abbey’s insurance career began in the Northern Territory in 2007, where she quickly developed a strong appetite for complex, challenging and unique risks. That early exposure
shaped her problem-solving mindset and continues to drive her passion for insurance today. A Sunshine Coast local most of her life, Abbey returned home in 2013 and has been a valued member of the YIB team ever since.
Outside of work, Abbey channels the same focus and discipline into training in martial arts, tackling overly-ambitious DIY projects at home, and spending time fishing and camping with her teenage son’s and her two miniature schnauzers.

With close to two decades of industry experience since beginning her insurance career in 2008, Lauren brings deep knowledge, steady support, and an approachable nature to the YIB team. Having worked across a range of roles, she understands client needs, policy requirements, and business realities, taking pride in making the insurance process stress-free while working closely with Abbey to deliver a smooth, reliable experience. Outside of work, Lauren enjoys life by the beach, spending time with her two daughters, getting creative with arts and crafts, and pursuing her passion for cooking, movies, and trying new restaurants (especially anything noodle-based or Asian fusion). Her blend of organization, industry expertise, and genuine care makes her a trusted support for both clients and colleagues, as well as an integral part of the team.
